Commonly mentioned as the cackling, hunchbacked, hermaphrodites of the animal kingdom, hyenas get a bad rap often in fiction. This family is primarily matrilineal, tracing its lineage back before the First Seelie War, but not so far back as the First Ones. They are believed to have come to exist after fae such as merrows, pixies, etc. In the early days, inter-familial marriage did occur. However, the matrilineal nature of the family allowed the women in these marriages to save their daughters from this fate and thus after Shayera II all marriages were non-incestuous. Currently, the family is down to a few memebers, including the young Sari who is unmarried.
